The School-Based Literary Celebration with the theme: “Learning the English Language in the New Normal,” was held for three (3) consecutive days via Google Meet. The 3-day celebration was divided into morning and afternoon session. The morning session started at 8a.m. and the afternoon session started at 1: 00p.m.. It was made that way, because the teachers and the principal considered the internet connection/data of the students, who were willing to join the contests.
On December 9, 2020, we had the Poem Recitation of Kinder and Grade 2 students in the morning and the Poem Recitation of Grade 1 and Grade 3 students in the afternoon. Before proceeding to the program proper, reminders were set by the Master of Ceremony, Ms. Rachel N. Tribiana. The reminders helped a lot for the smooth delivery of the program. The students already know when to turn on and off their cameras and microphones.
The program started with a prayer, followed by the Philippine National Anthem, in the morning, and Nationalistic Song in the afternoon. The opening remarks were given by the School Principal, Mrs. Evangeline E. Malicdem, then, the judges were introduced, and the mechanics and criteria for judging were presented.
In the morning program, there were seven (7) Kinder participants and eight (8) Grade 2 participants. In the afternoon, there were six (6) Grade 1 participants and five (5) Grade 3 participants. After all students had presented, the closing speech was delivered by the school’s Master Teacher II, Mrs. Elenita P. Reodique.
On the second day of the program, December 10, 2020, we had the Storytelling Contest of Grade 4, in the morning, and the Essay Writing Contest of Grade 5 and Grade 6, in the afternoon. It had the same flow of the program with the first day, but with different emcees and speakers for the morning and afternoon session. In the morning, the emcee was Mrs. Jocelyn R. Vizcarra, and in the afternoon, the emcee was Ms. Jessica Pabular. The welcome remarks on the second day were given by Mrs. Elenita P. Reodique and the closing speech was given by Ms. Lovina C. Zabala.
On the third day, December 11, 2020, at 2: 00p.m. we had the Culminating Activity. The Master of Ceremony was one of the English teachers, Mrs. Ma. Cecilia P. Geralin. The program started with an opening prayer, followed by the singing of the Philippine National Anthem. To formally begin the culminating activity, we had the welcome remarks of our Education Program Supervisor in English, Dr. Rodrigo C. Morales.
We had following during the culminating program: the awarding of certificates to the participants from Kinder to Grade 6, the awarding of certificates to the winners from Kinder to Grade 3, an inspirational message from our School Principal, Mrs. Evangeline E. Malicdem, the continuation of awarding of certificates to the winners from Grade 4 to Grade 6, and the awarding of certificates to the judges.
