Each year we celebrate Global Handwashing Day every 15th day of October. This year’s theme is “Our Future is at Hand – Let’s Move forward Together.” Handwashing with soap is one of the key elements of DepEd’s Comprehensive Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) in School WINS Program.
Today, our school conducted events and proper demonstrations because we know that clean hands are healthier for everyone! We posted videos on our Facebook Page and stated some insights on the importance of handwashing with soap. Teachers also posted videos of proper handwashing on their respective Group Chat. They encourage learners to do proper hand washing in their homes at these critical times because it’s a must before handling food or touching one’s face or mouth and protect us against many illnesses like diarrhea, pneumonia, cholera, typhoid fever, and others.
In addition, our school distributed handwash liquid soap to every household of TES – 1 learners. At exactly 9:00 am we started our handwashing activity before and after their recess time. Each student observed and followed the proper steps on handwashing based on the video posted by their teacher in GC’s. After the handwashing activities, teachers sent this video dance “Tamang Paghuhugas ng Kamay” and instructed our students to follow the dance steps and do it at home from time to time.
These activities were conducted for compliance with the memorandum and most importantly to maintain and apply proper handwashing at home and in school by the teachers, students, and other school personnel.
Tambo Elementary School Unit – 1 conducted successfully the “Global Handwashing Day 2021.”
